BUFA comes from Menzel Bouzelfa, where olive trees aren’t just crops, they’re family members. We’re 6th generation farmers, raised in a culture where olive oil sits at the center of the table, every single day.

North Africa has been living with olive trees for thousands of years. Long before trends, before “extra virgin” became a buzzword, Tunisians were growing olives, pressing oil, trading it across the Mediterranean. The Romans called Tunisia the breadbasket of the empire — but olive oil was always liquid gold here.

Our family mill tells that story. A stone mill first built in the 1930s by an Italian family living in our town, later bought by our grandfather in the 60s. Since then, it’s been part of our rhythm: harvest seasons, stained hands, loud laughs, endless olive sacks, and oil fresh enough to drink straight from the press.

BUFA is our way of bottling that feeling. Heritage without dust, tradition without pretending, olive oil with soul.

BUFA's first outing 🫒

BUFA’s first tasting experience at Happy Fürstenplatz felt special in a way that’s hard to describe.

This was the first time BUFA stepped outside the screen and into real life. The first time people tasted the olive oil, asked questions, shared stories, smiled after the first dip of bread, and genuinely connected with what we are building.

The support from the neighbours, friends, and local community went far beyond expectations. What started as a simple “why not?” idea suddenly felt very real.

And maybe this story didn’t start with me at all.

Maybe it already started back in the 1950s, with my grandfather and his olive oil mill in Tunisia. What once was his everyday life somehow found its way back to me decades later.

BUFA was created with one mission in mind: making Tunisian olive oil truly seen.

Not hidden behind anonymous white labels.
Not blended away without traceability.
Not stripped from its story, people, and origin.

Because olive oil is more than a product to us.
It is heritage. Identity. Memory.

And protecting that heritage feels less like a business idea and more like a responsibility.
